In The Presence Of Trees

It’s 2022 – and the first day of the new year. Today is a day for reflection. What are you going to do this year?

Why not opt to improve nature everyday. I am going to make a point to do at least one thing to improve nature each day.

It can be as simple as picking up trash from the roadside, starting a compost pile, or repurposing an item rather than throwing it in the trash. Even turning down the thermostat one degree helps.

We only have one Earth. Connect with it, take care of it, and keep your mind on the trees.

In The Presence of Trees

I am blood

and sap,

Skin

and bark,

Arms

and limbs,

Hair

and leaves,

Standing

and swaying,

In the wind.

Just Be Kind – Letters to Ellen

A few years ago, I had a transition in life that provided me with a lot more free time. However, I was not utilizing that time very well. As a result, I began watching more television.

In particular, almost everyday, I would ensure that I watched the Ellen Show. Ellen DeGeneres made me laugh. Laughter is great medicine! I also enjoyed the show’s acts of kindness.

Her show inspired me to write a song titled “Just Be Kind.” I decided that I would write letters to Ellen letting her know about the song and its progress. I wrote her two letters in all. I’d hoped that just maybe, the letters would be read and I could get tickets to her show, and give Ellen the song.

I never did receive a response, but I did complete the song. Here is the digital song cover art.

It’s a country song about standing in line at a store and paying it forward for a stranger.

You can hear the entire song via this link:

Unfortunately, Ellen is going off the air so I’ll never see her show live. Perhaps a reader out there knows Ellen and will let her know about the song. You never know.

Remember, Christmas miracles do happen, and always – Just Be Kind!
