The ‘STORE’ Is Open For Business

For the last couple of months, I have been working on putting a store front on my blog. Well, today it has gone live!

Here is the link to Mr. G’s Mind store, hosted by Redbubble:

You can also access this link on the website navigation menu bar, by clicking on Store.

Redbubble enables a designer to host their designs, and place them on 100’s of products: shirts, phone cases, stickers, mouse pads, even clocks for sale. They take the orders, get the product printed, and shipped to the customer. Of course, they take a large percentage of the sale price, but the designer does not have to deal with a ‘physical’ business. For me, that’s a huge plus!

Here is a screen shot of some of the available products. Thus far I have only posted 12 designs, but I plan to grow and improve the site with much more.

If you follow my blog, you may notice that some of the designs have been the subject of a few posts. For example: AlphaWEAR Clothing Line.

I hope that you will take a look, bookmark, and share the link on your social media sites. Perhaps you will even make a purchase! Five percent of my take goes to a local zoo’s educational fund.

So far it’s been a fun project. If you are a designer, photographer, or even a poet, you could use Redbubble to display your creations, and perhaps make some side money too. Go for It!

Birkies at 42

About a week ago, a good friend sent me a text with a picture of some 1970’s Birkenstock sandals. They belonged to Steve Jobs, one of the founders of Apple Computer. The sandals had been auctioned off for $218K. That is just crazy!

However, I do understand the ‘lure’ of a good pair of Birkenstocks. I’ve had my Birkenstock clogs or Birkies, as I call them, for nearly 42 years. I purchased them in 1981, while living in San Diego.

It has become a passion of mine to keep them going until my final days. Why would this be so? What is the point in keeping these shoes alive?

For me, they are a portal to my past. Each time I slip them on, I am transported to another time in my life. A time filled with dreams of possibly working with zoo animals and living at the beach. A time filled with dreams of the future.

And… I know it’s hard to believe, but some individuals do not like my clogs. It was even suggested to use them as planters on the patio wall. Really! These are priceless and need to live on. Perhaps they are even an extension of my soul (sole)?

So, if the individual who purchased Steve Jobs’ Birkies wants to know… they can easily be resoled and recorked. You can keep your investment alive forever! Wear them, travel back in time to the ‘Home Brew Computer Club,’ and tell “The Woz” hello for me.

Enjoy your Birkenstocks – your feet will thank you!
